Poem

Little bird

I did not raise you

When you claimed you could fly i believed you.

When I saw the scars upon your wing I pretended not to notice

cause your smile radiates like a freshly waxed car

So when your smile disappeared like a plane over the Bermuda triangle

I didn’t quite know what to do.

Or to say.

I just knew I’d do whatever it would take to restore

that Endless gleam

That pillar of hope

That white void that lend to gumdrops and rainbows.

I spent hours figuring out what I was going to say to you..

And to my surprise it worked.

and this is what i want to tell you

1. Please do not forget about me long after your gone. You may be the only one who

knows who I am.

2. Dreams do come true long after your head leaves the pillow.

3. Your strength transcends time and space and joins the ranks of infinity.

4. I do not blame you

5. Always chase your love

Do not give up like me.

6. If you feel like giving up refer back to 5.

7. Please stop saying you love me.

It reminds me that you were the strings and my heart was the drums to my favorite

symphony.

8. Even though it’s been a 24 days, 16 hours, and 10 minutes I can still hear your voice.

9. Is the time I take my melatonin to prevent me from thinking of you.

9.2 It never works.

9.23 four is the first lie I told you. And yes I know 23 is your favorite number

10. I have a hard time of letting go, I’ll always love my little bird.

The lessons helped me understand the step editor inside of logic. The reading helped me understand delay and reverb. I have used eq and compression before but the reading showed me some tricks and tips I hadn’t heard before.

Joe Cheeks “What you mean” 2 chord Shuffle

For this draft I added automation and some glitches through automation. I am really experimenting with it so I am not sure if it will stay, but for now I like it.

I have worked on the mix, though listening to it now I hear things I want to change.

The reading really helped me with working with automation in Logic.

Joe Cheeks Logic draft 2

I’ve changed my piece. I wanted to try something different. I went for a kind of dark feel with this one, but added a change in tempo and feel for the chorus to give it some upbeat emotion.

My next steps are the vocals. and some automation.

Joe Cheeks Logic Draft 1

I sort f thought of a sort of EDM meets hip hop kind of feel. I am still experimenting with sounds. I would really like to know what people think.

The logic lessons helped me understand the piano roll better. They also helped me find where the velocities where located in logic. Which helped me level my drum track out.

I have various effects and tracks.

I added vocal effects on the chorus which I think sound pretty cool. For the main verse vocals, I added a slight reverb onto them. I also automated the chorus drums and piano to create a different feel.

The Dochtermann helped me remember some of the basics of how audio recording work. They also helped in my understanding of song structure. The vocal mixing for this track was tough, I had trouble with recording the vocals. Which caused my whole mix to have me playing catch up though I liked the end result.

Joe Cheeks Loop Project draft 1

This is a hip hop type of beat. I was inspired by a song I heard called superhuman by Chris Webby.

The  Dochtermann helped me understand the structure for my song.

After listening, to song’s with similar sounds to the one i wanted to create. I determined that the song does not need to be overly complicated.Using a constant flow, with small changes would create all the movement I would need.
