Rachael Lee Final Project Draft #2

So I scrapped my old song and created a new one. I have lyrics and they’re pretty awesome. I don’t want to post them because they’re a surprise.

Rachael Lee Final Project Draft #1

Bless Apple loops to be honest. It has really helped me start my project. I really like the bass line I have so far. I had a game plan coming into this project, but I think I’m going to scrap it again. I don’t think I’ll be able to finish it in such a short time.

Maybe I’ll write about pizza… It has a pizza vibe. Who knows tho…

Rachael Lee Live Final

I used this page on soundonsound before using the Live 9 web book. It had the basics of Live. There’s a website called MacAbleton and there was a page that had a step by step tutorial in mixing. This page helped with automation. It took me a long time to figure it out but this page helped with it as well. In chapter 14, there is a section in midi slicing. This was useful because I wanted to use a pieces of Red Velvet’s “Ice Cream Cake” in my own song.

This mix is different from my performance. It’s different because I wanted to meet the automation criteria. I also forgot to record my performance… whoops….

Rachael Lee Live Draft #3

So I didn’t save this correctly so I have to go back tomorrow to fix it. But I have most of the project done, all I really need are some lyrics and some how manage to squeeze my flute into there. I was thinking about doing a flute intro and just stick trills into the song.

The most I’ve learned is from Mark just showing me things on Live. I wasn’t really able to look at the Live lessons because it wouldn’t show up. I really like freezing tracks and looping them; I’ll probably do a lot of that for my next Live project. I think I’m getting the hang of Live, not quite sure how I still feel about it though.

Fixed it.

Rachael Lee Live Project Draft #2

I honestly have nothing. I’m at a block in the road. I think it’s because there are a lot of things I want to try and just not enough time/it’s over whelming. There are a lot of samples that I have, I just have not put them together.

Also, Live is just… uhg. It’s really difficult for me. I am most definitely going to be making my tracks in Logic and then arranging it in Live. My brain is about to explode.

Rachael Lee Live Project Idea

Honestly, I really do not know what I want to do for my Live project. I was thinking about maybe doing something like this. For the live project I would like to work with a lot of samples and mash everything together. If that doesn’t work out, I was thinking about going techno. Maybe a club sort of sound.

Live is really, really confusing.

Rachael Lee Logic Project Final

It’s here. The greatest cat song. I really, really like how it turned out.

For the final product, the last 4 chapters of the logic book really helped out. Chapter 7 so especially helpful for my vocals. I played around with the pitch, didn’t change much but it was fun to play around with flex pitch. Chap. 9, was really helpful for mixing. It went in depth about amps and channel EQing. I kept referencing to Chap. 10 a lot because I was mixing write in and mouse automation.

Rachael Lee Logic Draft #3

Hey friends, sorry this is super late.

The song should stop at 1:40. The other stuff is extra, save-for-later type stuff.

In this draft I panned a couple of instruments, such as the bass and melody in the middle. I am super pumped up that I was able to some how make the melody sound like cats meowing. I did a lot of layering of sounds with using the same piano roll pattern for the most part. Mark was super helpful showing and sampling sounds in Logic. The transition at 1:04 is super weird, I did not mean for that to happen.

I only have lyrics for the chorus so far (trumpet part):
Cats oh, cats oh, cats are great.
They’ll blow you to outer-space.
Cats, cats oh, cats are great.
There is nothing else to say.

The Dochtermann Chap. 11 taught me more about mixing and how to clean up my tracks. I shall be using this chapter to good use for my final draft.

Rachael Lee Logic Project Pt.2

I added bass, piano, and a little intro. It’s a weird transition but I’m still working on it. I’m working on the chords towards the end. It’s almost there, I’m just looking for one more right chord. I’m trying to find more sounds that I would like to add.

In Logic Lesson Ch. 9, I learned about new amps and EQ’s. I will definitely be adding EQ’s to my next draft. Even though Mark taught us how to use automation in class, Logic Lesson Ch. 10  described it in detail. The Docterman Ch. 6 helped me understand EQ’s a lot better.
