So finally figured out how to get access to this site…. And I am a computer science major lol. Either way, so this is my first draft and I am not the biggest fan. I didn’t want to create something so housy even though that is one of my favorite genres. The only reason for that was so that it wouldn’t end up being too hard to write lyrics. I am going to keep working on making the beats and the melodies seem fuller. I did get a lot from the readings/tutorials in that I learned how to mix things a lot better and I learned how to control volume properly. I was mainly relying on trying to get timing down but now it has gotten a lot easier after learning proper volume control.
This song still needs work but thanks to the logic tutorials I was able to keep from making any big mistakes. The logic tutorials were helpful in that after reading them they showed me how to do the little things like checking and matching all of the tracks volumes. Without them this would have been a much longer process. They helped in keeping me from making any of the little mistakes that one just must avoid when mixing, and in doing so saved me a lot of time.
I call it: Cumbia de Loops
as usual, I have many sections that kind of flow together. I think I’m getting better at it; I think this is definitely an improvement from previous compositions, but still need to work on that. also I need to add vocals in the other sections. sorry mark its 4 minutes, but I know u wanna dance to it eh?!? also be sure to listen with headphones, the apple speakers at least, suck.
This was my first time ever using Logic. At first, I was very intimidated by the program, but the lessons assigned for class helped me learn how to use it properly. I have played multiple instruments over the years, but I have never really learned that much music theory, so going over all of that in the readings really helped.
This was also my first time attempting to compose any kind of music. The outcome of this project (at least so far) surprises me. I thought I would end up sounding similar to the kind of music I usually listen to, but it turned into something very electronic. I cant say that what I have created so far is exactly what I had in mind when I sat down to make it, but I hope it evolves into something I really like by the end of next week.
This is my pretty rough draft for the loop project. This is my first time using Logic x and I though the lesson was really insightful for a beginner like myself. I really enjoyed messing with the tempo and mixing a couple different genres. It was sunny out when I started the project and it reminded me of Jamaica and Mexico, so I’m planning on adding some Spanish vocals and shortening it up for the loop project.
I created my first loop by using a calm piano as my base track and then introduced a simple Trip Hop beat to bring in the vocals. This project turned out to be a little more emotional than I had anticipated, but I really felt like experimenting with the mood and recorded whatever was in my head. Fair warning – I scream into the mic for added effect. The Apple Pro Lessons provided a great walkthrough that showed me how to use the loop presets as well as adding effects to each track, I highly recommend going back to it. This is my first time using Logic Pro, so I’m kind of excited that I now have an excuse to rap and sing this semester.
This is what I have of my Loop Project so far. I haven’t quite decided what I want the next part to sound like, but I’ll figure it out. I started out with a series of guitar loops that I liked and found some drums and bass that went well with it. The course readings have helped me consider the importance of the structure of the song, as well as the importance of keeping all the tracking organized. I’ve also learned of how to most effectively position and use a microphone, which will be useful when the time comes to add vocals. Thanks for listening, I’m looking forward to your criticisms and ideas.
Very rough draft of my piece. Needs serious mixing and mastering. I will also add some more audio audio tracks. Solo and the end needs to be re recorded. Overall it is pretty boring right now. Pretty bad. The readings for this course have been very beneficial to my understanding of music and whole. The readings did a good job of explaining what basic song structure is. The microphone technique lesson was also very helpful to me.
